In 2019 the club was able to celebrate 30 years of 2CV racing in the UK. It’s come a long way – in 1989 the cars were virtually standard, including the suspension, leading to some very pronounced body roll!
Yet still, the club maintains the ethos that got it started in the first place – low cost, affordable, exciting racing.
Here’s some footage from the 7th of May, 1989 of the first ever 2CV race, held at Mallory Park in Leicestershire.
Our thanks to Andrew Kitson for providing the footage! Take a look at his site at www.andrewkitson.com
Andy writes: “The clip shows the first ever practice session ( short clip from the entry to the hairpin) then the race. It was a cracker with 4 cars fighting for the lead. The matt black one (Pete Sparrow) stood out, nothing like we had seen before at the time, a lowered 2Cv! Please excuse the laughter, not just me, the whole crowd really enjoyed it as you will hear! It was (and still is) a great spectacle.”
