2024 season ready for action!

Preparations are well underway for another exciting season for the Classic 2CV Racing Club.

Early bird entries have now closed and it looks like we are in for some close competitive racing once again with more than 30 drivers vying for the top spot!

Will Kris Tovey be able to defend his 2023 title or will Nick Crispin or Luca Proietti, last year’s runners up, be able to steal his crown? We already know that there will be some newly built cars on the grid but there will also have been some teams burning the midnight oil to ensure their cars are ready for the first two races at Cadwell on 27th and 28th April 2024.

If you still wish to enter there are details on the website of a further whole season discount before 31st March or the pricing for individual races.

2024 season details

Classic 2CV Racing Club Sprint Season Announcement

With the recent final negotiations of venues and timings we are now delighted to confirm to you the details for the 2024 Classic 2CV Racing Sprint Season.

For 2024, we will be visiting:
Cadwell Park 27th – 28th April 2024
Croft 18th – 19th May 2024
Lydden Hill 23rd June 2024
Oulton Park 12th October 2024

All venues will be double headers with qualifying sessions being separate or sequential (one after the other), as determined by the track.

We look forward to increased grids as we cover the country returning to some of our most popular tracks as well as one we have not visited for quite some time.

We are continuing to work hard with Lydden Hill management to encourage a ‘festival atmosphere’ to the weekend and are exploring options of inviting other likeminded Clubs to the weekend, with the determination to add extra value to the event.

As explained at the AGM, we are now required to make earlier staged payments to BARC to secure the race time for the season. To manage this responsibly we require payment for the race season from our competitors earlier than in previous years.

To ensure we offer the best value to the competitors who are helping us the most, we have agreed the following pricing:

Race Entry Paid In Full by February 29th 2024 – Entry for 8 Races: £2,000
Late Entry Paid In Full by March 31st 2024 – Entry for 8 Races: £2,200
Any Race Entries after 31st March 2024 – Entry at £350 each Race (up until 2 weeks before the race)

This means for those entering the season and paying in full before 29th February the 2024 Sprint Season will be cheaper than 2023!

Payment details and entry forms will shortly go live on the website, when making any payment we kindly ask you to email your details, including name, BARC Number and Licence Number to avoid confusion, to [email protected]. If your company, sponsor or a relative is making the payment, your details are vital to ensure payment is allocated to you before the deadlines to secure these prices.

To help further, the Club will accept part payments for entries to help the cash flow of both the entry and the Club, but only on the basis of the Paid In Full dates being met and details being correct supplied as above. BACS payments can be made to:

The Classic 2cv Racing Club Ltd (Metro Bank)
Sort code: 23-05-80
Account number: 22263174

The 24 hour race will take place on 23rd-25th August and details of the cost of this will follow shortly. We face the same payment pressures as the Sprint Season and unfortunately some costs have increased, but the Board are working constantly to reduce the impact of these changes, so the 2024 24hr race remains by far the best value and friendliest 24 hour race in the UK.

The Unraceables – a MotorSport magazine article

Club member Simon Turner kindly loaned his newly prepared club-class racer for a recent magazine track test at Brands Hatch. The article examines the various endurance focused low-cost, low-powered racing championships, and Simon’s 2CV racer compared very favourably against the Ka and C1 cars that it was put up against.

MotorSport magazine have very generously allowed us to circulate the feature on our website. You can read the article here

Brands Hatch 2018 preview

BRANDS 2CV ACTION THIS WEEKEND!!

The 2CV Racing Championship is back in action at Brands Hatch on Saturday, with two sprint races.

Former multiple champion Pete Sparrow won both of the sprint races at Cadwell Park and will be looking to add to his tally, but defending champion Lien Davies and Tom Perry were Cadwell Enduro victors. Davies is in the first race at Brands with Perry taking over in the second.

Nick Crispin has two chances as he is racing solo, as are Alec Graham, Richard Gardiner, Marc Grasby, Chris Yates, Michael Fox, John Widdowson, Matthew and Nigel Hollis, David O’Keeffe and Chris Hall.
Sandro Proietti is usually sharing with son Luca, although this time he will run solo too. Mick Storey and daughter Katy are going to be busy though, as they are running in both car 4 & 22, having one race each in each car.

Ainlsie Bousfield does race one before Simon Clarke takes over, while Nick Roads hands to Brian Heerey.

Cadwell Park 2018 Preview

2CV SEASON KICKS OFF AT CADWELL PARK
Lien Davies heads the entry for this weekend’s opening rounds of the 2CV Championship at Cadwell Park.

But the two time reigning champion can expect some strong competition from his regular adversaries in the first of the two sprint races.

Davies’ Team Gadget team mate Simon Clarke is always a threat, but with 2CV legend Pete Sparrow in the field, it’s going to be tough.

Sandro Proietti has the pace, but not always the reliability and sometimes a knack of being in the wrong place, both he and Alec Graham will be looking for podiums.

After years and years of waiting Mick Storey got his first win at Brands Hatch last season, can he gain his second win this weekend?

There are four Hollis Motorsport cars to choose from. Nigel and sons Matthew and Richard, with John Widdowson completing their line-up.

Having come on leaps and bounds last season Marc Grasby will be looking to continue his progress, while Championship stalwart Roy Eastwood will be in the thick of it too, along with Aubrey Brocklebank and Chris Yates.

Nick Roads hasn’t been out of late, so could be an unknown quantity, while Chris Hall, Michael Fox and Ronald Mears are back for more.

Richard Gardiner is back after a few years out, but Brent Savage makes his 2CV debut with a lot of motorsport experience from other formulae under his belt.

Many of the drivers are doing both sprint races, but among the exceptions will be Katy Storey taking over the Rosie Racing car from father Mick, Tom Perry in for Davies at Gadget Racing, Martin Riman for Brocklebank, Ash Carter replacing Brent Savage, Ainslie Bousefield for Clarke in the second Gadget car and Brian Heerey for Roads and Crisis TR Racing.

The first sprint race is on Saturday at 2.05 and the second at 4.20, before the two hour endurance at 4.15 on Sunday.

Most of the sprint entries carry over to Sunday’s Enduro, but a number are doubling up. Steve Walford joins Grasby and Lauren Storey is paired with father Mick and sister Katy.

Luca Proietti isn’t down to race in the sprint, but is due to join Father Sandro on Sunday, while Don Hall joins Chris in the Pork Pie Racing Team and Ash Carter sits in with Yates.

As if one legend wasn’t enough, Sparrow has another former champion making his return in Gary Adnitt.

Graham, Gardiner, Fox, Mears, Eastwood, Matthew Hollis and Crispin are all going solo, while Richard Hollis is down to share with father Nigel and John Widdowson. Of the other duos they all look to be threats and possible winners, with Davies/Perry and Bousefield/Clarke going for Team Gadget

Reigning champion heads entry for Oulton Park opener

5577313110_4cbc1c572a_oLien Davies heads the entry for this weekend’s opening round of the 2CV Parts.com Championship at Oulton Park.

The defending Champion is in the first of two 20 minute races, before Ainslie Bousefield takes over the Team Gadget car for the second.

19 cars line up at the Cheshire parkland circuit, where there will certainly be a family feel to the races. Julie Walford will take over from Steve for the second race, while Mick Storey starts in the second of the two Rosie Racing cars, hands to daughter Katy and then takes over the number one car from Nick Clarke.

The family theme continues with Matthew, Richard and Nigel Hollis all going solo, as well as running John Widdowson under the Hollis racing banner.

Former Renault 5TS and Fiat racer Sandro Proietti shares with son Luca, while his former Fiat racing rival Martin Riman is back out, having only raced in the latter rounds last season.

Former MGF racer Brian Heerey joins the grid with Team ECAS at his local circuit, while the grid is completed by Marc Grasby, Ash Carter, Chris Yates, Ronald Mears, James Dartiailh, Chris Hall, Nick Crispin and Jim Henshaw.

Qualifying is at 8.30 with races at 1.30 and 5.25 each for 20 minutes.

RaceRetro 2017

17407871_10154506220223763_785028694_oThe RaceRetro show is the place to showcase classic and historic motorsport in the UK, and the 2CV Racing Club Ltd were keen to showcase our racing championship.

Over the three days of the show, the stand received a lot of interest from passers-by, with a TV playing race footage, handouts, freebies, a banner and of course Ash Carter’s beautifully prepared car.

2017-02-25 12.54.24A number of people put their names down for more information regarding competing at the 24hr race and the sprint races alike.

Thanks to all those who helped with creating and running the stand, and all those who came and talked to us!
